Bates college made the submission of SAT scores optional for the last 20 years. To quote Mr. Syverson of Lawrence University: "In 2004, Bates College reported on 20 years as a test-optional college. They had collected SAT scores from non-submitters who ultimately enrolled and determined that, in spite of having SATs that were 160 points lower, the “non-submitters” graduated from Bates and achieved GPAs that were virtually identical to those of the “submitters.” "
