NUSH internationalization programme

The school has opened up programmes to allow NUSH students to interact with students from other schools in foreign countries. Students selected for the programmes get to host the foreign students when they visit NUSH, and go to their schools for about one to two weeks.

Why should you go for it?

1. You get to see other countries, which most people should find exciting. You should take the chance for find out more about a foreign culture, etc. you’ll never know when it will come in handy.

2. You get to make friends with other people from other countries. If you go there again, you have someone there to contact who knows all the stuff only locals will know. These friends you make may one day be your counterparts in their respective countries when you go into the working world. If you meet them again, you’ll have something to talk about in future.

3. Fun to go with your friends.

4. You get to compare how NUSH measures up to other schools in the world.

5. Homestay in someone else’s house is always an eye opener to the culture of that country.

6. If you ever go abroad to study/ work, you’ll have had a taste of what life in a foreign country might be like. You’ll be better equipped to plan for your trip.

7. The school will bring the foreign students to places of interest in Singapore, and you might get to go also. Some places the school to them to are places I had never even been myself, so you might find it almost as exciting as the foreign students do to visit those places.

8. Since you have to host the foreign students in Singapore, you get experience in being a good host when people come to your hometown.

Who shouldn’t need to go?

1. If you think it’s a bit pricey.

2. You think this will take up too much time because you are busy with classes already.

3. Personally, I feel this is more for exposure and seeing a foreign land. I don't think it actually adds that much to your CV. And don’t fret even if you aren’t selected/ can’t go, other opportunities to go overseas will always be there if you open your eyes.
